Founder's Note

With the Carbone API, you can generate reports right away: Send a template file and a JSON dataset, and the engine will return a document with all the data inside. PDF, ODT, DOCX, XLSX, HTML, XML, PPTX, JPG, PNG, TXT, CSV, EPUB, IDML, ODS, PPTX, ODG, and ODP are just some of the forms that can be used.

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲

Use your favorite text editor (LibreOffice, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Doc, Pages, a WYSIWYG editor, or a code editor) to design and make themes. You don't have to ask a writer to make a change because anyone can create and edit the file. Design and logic are kept separate in the template:

- Use Carbone tags, a low-code templating language, to add dynamic data like text, images, barcodes, charts, lists, HTML content, and colors.

- Use built-in aggregators to do the complicated calculations.

- Use "formatters" to make numbers, currencies, strings, and groups look the way you want them to.

- Conditionally show or hide parts or pieces

- Translate documents into various languages

- Styles, layouts, and page numbers must all be made with the help of your text editor.

⚡️ 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

- You can add the API to your favorite no-code tool like Zapier, n8n, Make, Bubble, or Ninox in just a few minutes. Our GitHub page has SDKs for Js, Node, Php, Go, Python, and Curl, so you can add them to your language.

We promise that it will be available 99.999% of the time.

- There is an on-premise version if you need to work offline or need more protection.

🔒 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗰𝘆

- Each link to download a document that was created is different. As soon as a file or link is received, it is automatically deleted.

- JSON data-set are not logged nor put into our database/server. Only papers are injected with it.

- Only templates are kept on our computers.

🍿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲

Before the projects started, it was hard to make documents because each customer wanted a different design and often complained about style problems, which took time and energy from the developers. The options that were already out there were half-baked, hard to use, or not fast enough. What if we could make those papers with the text editor we already know? For this, Carbone was made.

Carbone was made by David at night in 2013. His previous company used the POC as an internal project to make papers for restaurants, like menus, invoices, and hygiene analysis sheets for well-known French restaurants (food ). It made thousands of reports every month.

Carbone went public in 2021 and got its own company, Carbone.io, to speed up its development and growth. David, Guillaume, and I (Steve) helped start the company. We are in "La Roche Sur Yon" (try saying it with a French accent).

Carbone API now makes an average of 5M documents per month and is used by governments, banking, healthcare, education, retail, telecom, real estate, IT, and even kiwi farmers in New Zealand!

The main part of Carbone is free to use and modify: github.com/carboneio/carbone

It has data replacement, formatters, loops, translation, and conversions.

All functions that need custom programming are only available in the Carbone Enterprise version, which is either the Carbone Cloud API or the on-premise version.
